My Great Grandfather fought in WW1.

His Name was Joseph Young. He was Native American so they didn't give a shit about him or his friends he enlisted with.

His battalion were put on the front lines. They were either killed or captured. My grandfather was one of the captured.

The Germans never seen a person with brown skin before. So they asked my grandfather who he was, and where he came from.
He told them he was a Native American Cree and he came from Manitoba.
They told him this wasn't his fight and let him free.

If the Germans didn't spare my grandfather and let him go, he wouldn't have had a family, and I'd never have been born.
