So*********:

The only time i noticed the transition between the shots is the actual "CGI" part when he jumps in the water. That one was kinda obvious. As for the rest, i honestly struggled to notice, but i couldnt. Kudos to the producer!

Na************:

If this movie doesn’t get nominated for an Oscar than I am airing out the whole awards

To*****:

I wish I could watch this movie for the 1st time again, the unknown eerie feeling constantly pressuring your anxiety...

Ko*****:
Cameramen: How many cuts do you want??

Director: No

Ke******:

“Like this farmhouse the two soldiers visit” PLEASE DONT REMIND ME

Sp**************:
Interesting... I felt the film was clearly meant to feel like TWO continuous shots combined (which it was) with the mosin shot to the helmet being the beginning of the second act in a way. Felt very intentional them making it two shots rather than one

Su********:

When i was watching the movie i feel like this movie is about the cameraman journey with the protagonist

Ri*******:
Director on set: “alright guys, this is where we film the scene where absolutely everything happens”.

Th*****************:

I think the “continuous shot” was meant to give the feeling of “no resting. keep moving.”

Th*******:
They stole the technology from the Maury show's camera crew.

Mi*******:

i noticed that the extra that ran into him just like died after he ran into Schofield. He prob was like "oh there goes my money" and just lied there

Vn*:

Imagine the cameraman filming the cameramen who were filming the movie.

Mi*****:

Fun fact:

It took 6 months for the actors to rehearse the movie before shooting started.

Ca*:
I spent more time looking for the scene transitions in this movie than paying attention to the actual plot. The cinematography was super creative!

Lo******:
i remember every single part of this movie and i still hate that damn rat

Pe***********:
I worked as an extra on this film, coming home from rehearsing the trench sprint I had a feeling the shot would be iconic if done right. I think it is.

Jo****:
Imagine actually shooting it in one take lmao
And then messing up the last line

St***********:
actor make a mistake at the end of the scene
director: okay let's do this one last time

Ni*******:

"Measure 1917 times. Cut only once."
British proverb.

Br***********:

Man I wish I were on of those extras lol even if I was not in the shot or barley visible the inexperience would still be amazing

Ci****:
The fact him running into the soldiers at the end was accidental just made that scene even cooler.

Le************:
That one scene when a soldier was singing give me chills

Lu*******:

It's called 1917 because that's when they started shooting the movie

br****:
Just watched this masterpiece, do not go hoping for a full action pact fake hollywood war movie, just sit back and enjoy the story. 9/10 from me.

Co***********:
That flare scene was the most surreal experience I’ve ever witnessed.

Al*************:
If this movie doesn't win an award for cinematography...
Edit: I can no longer wait in baited breath because it did

18************:

That scene with the flares in the demolished towns was some of the most stunning visuals I have ever seen in my life....beautiful

Yo*******:

Bollywood filmmakers don't do even 1% of this effort to make their movie. No surprise why they never win Oscars.

El*********:

When you realize Tommen Baratheon is searching for Robb Stark.

Je********:
That one so called "mistake" for a scene where he got hit by running soldiers, for me, is beautifully natural. It suited the urgency while the camera kept on running farther leaving him behind and him running faster to keep up with the camera; my takeaway from that scene is the feeling of helplessness but urgency to make it out alive, keep up, and complete his mission.

About the first soldier who bumped him and not getting up, for me, it is still a realistic thing a soldier might do, considering the psychological factors that could have led to him to do just so. It is like a moment where he just wanted to stay behind the chaos and excuse himself from charging towards certain death, or probably just hitting his head and getting all dizzy, coupled with the stress , confusion, and anxieties he also endured as a soldier. Maybe a mix of all these things led to him not getting up. Just my take on such an iconic scene; a soldier stumbling down physically and mentally.
