Summary Comments : [BRIGHT SIDE] 15 Strange Things That Seem Normal Only In South Korea

끄*:

I'm Korean and I am really impressed with this clip but, there are some mistakes in the clip.
1. Korean people are really used to western culture and Music. As you know, in Korea when foreign singers come and have concert, all the seats are sold out. And in real life every Koreans know the new, popular pop songs. You can probably hear it in the street very often.
2. They also watch lots of western movie. For example, In all of Asia Korea has biggest fandom of Marvel.
3. Korean kids they study a lot but these days they try to not for the kids.
Also elementry school(8~13years old) they end maybe 1-2 pm. (the younger you are the faster it ends.)
middle school(14-16) they end about 4-5 pm.
high school (17-19) the class ends 6pm but they usually have extra study time called "yaja" it means evening free study time. At this time you don't have class but you study by yourself whatever you want! And it finish at 10 pm. Before, everybody should have this extra study time but nowadays you can choose so some students they just go home or go to the academy.

Me: i never went to korea but BTS impressed me the most.

Mi****:
I liked how they used Japanese and some Chinese cities in a South Korean video, especially something as iconic as Shibuya cross section at the :18 mark. Shows how much time they spent into researching.

Su******:

I am South Korean, and they do learn geography, love western movies, and listen to western music. The rest are correct though.

Qu*****:

What is with the "teeth" ?

BR********:
Hey guys! Which things do you think the West should adopt from South Korea?

And here're some crazy things that seem normal in different countries https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7vz01_MMxk&t=27s

su************:
I can't stand the clashing of the teeth that you put in your video on each countdown. It's almost as bad as a chalkboard.

cc******:

There are a lot of great points in this (I wrote my own article on the topic after many years in the country). However, #4 is just abysmal and extremely false.

KBS Radio 1 and Radio 2 both play more of a variety of American and European music than is played in the US itself, especially popular music from the 70s and 80s. More Korean youth know these older bands and songs than do American youth and their parents grew up with it as well. MBC FM4U also plays more of a variety of American music than any American station does (most in the states are corporate-owned and only play a handful of the same songs over and over anyway). I'd regularly hear songs on the radio in Korea that I'd never heard before in the US. Of course, they're fans of Japanese music too, among other places. Most Koreans are familiar with Western traditions aside from some of the older generation stuck in their ways, and most schools have foreign English teachers who teach children many of those small things. They know all about holidays like Thanksgiving, etc., even the Pilgrims and the history of such days, as they are taught about them in school. Korea is extremely connected to the rest of the world. As for the geography issue, Americans learn it in school but many still don't know squat about it, but Koreans, as well as Chinese as a good example, and other countries too, also have this geography issue. Some people are good with it; some aren't, and the more nationalist the country, the less the population excels with geography.

#2: You won't find trash bins on the street because of the garbage tax and the government making sure people don't dump personal trash in the public bins to avoid paying for the colour-coded bags. Korean streets are littered with trash and are absolutely not tidy (though most are ashamed of that fact after visiting Japan for a few days!). I think a great deal of the points in this are good and up-to-date, such as the fight against long working hours recently. Kinda hurts to use tons of images of Japan in a video about Korea though, like poking Koreans in the eye, keeping in mind the relationship between the two nations isn't so hot, so it's an insult of sorts to make a video with interesting points about Korea only to use tons of video and images of the one country they aren't the most fond of politically.

[BRIGHT SIDE] We gathered comments about popular videos and looked at them in summary, including play time, and order of popularity.

It's a good video or channel, but if you're sad because it's too long, please leave a YouTube channel or video link and I'll post it on this blog.
