I had Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis at 21 as well. Her story is so...terrifyingly similar to my own. If it had not been for the book, it would have been a lot harder for people around me to understand. The movie made it easy to show people what I had gone through.

My little boy (3 y.o) Die in a hospital, the doctor doesn't know why my son die, and what's wrong with him. They just let him on Life Support until he die. I hate all of Medical movie / series, because they picture a doctor that's so good and can cure literally any disease. Whereas in the real life, I don't even know the reason why my little boy die. Imagine answering to people asking what caused your son die, and answering it with : I DON'T KNOW.

The disease is called Anti- NMD is an acute form of brain inflammation. Which is why the movie is called brain on fire. Its also based on a true story, for those who are saying its a fake disease.

Susannah Cahalan is an American journalist and author, known for writing the memoir Brain on Fire, about her hospitalization with a rare auto-immune disease, anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. She has worked for the New York Post. 

This movie is about her and her experience.

This is like my story. Since I was 4 years old I was constantly sick. I was like a waking corpse, I couldn't eat even if I was hungry and the pain in my stomach was unberable. At 7 years old I had 17 kg. The doctors in my country didn't know what I had. They kept saying that I'm doing this to myself because I'm crazy and that in reality I'm healthy. When I was 12 years old a doctor had the idea to try a new treatment and discoverd that I had gastritis, which is very uncommon for a kid so young, but still easy to discover. Now I'm 16 years old and healthy, but not because of the medical sistem. Even if I still feel pain sometimes, I can thank my mother for not giving up on my, fighting for me and supporting me. She's the reason I'm alive today, because unlike my mother, my father completly gave up on me back then.
