This video is gut wrenching, especially when touchdown is confirmed and the moments of his life flashing to the beat of the music throughout the whole scene was really gut wrenching, and that one final photo of him and his mom as the music ends is the thing that makes me cry, I hope his mom is in a better place now.

Gosh just watching this made me tear up. I’ve spent the last 7+ years of my life working on NASA’s next manned rocket, the SLS (Space Launch System)...my entire young career and significant portion of my life. I cannot wait for launch day, and in all honesty will be a complete nervous wreck.

I remember watching the live stream as Curiosity touched down on Mars. I was up late making the last finishing touches for my Masters Thesis defense that week, just before I started working in Huntsville, AL on SLS.

Mark hits the nail on the head when he suggests that the people behind the hardware make it all worthwhile. I’ve met some incredible people who share that same passion for learning and experimenting with the hope of accomplishing something really freakin cool...

Congrats Mark for your work on Curiosity, for your entertaining monthly videos, and recent dive into teaching. I share some of the same interests and love sharing it with others. Your mother is proud!
