Reminder that the designer confirmed that Gaga’s vocals were live and that the real mic was under her mask. You can hear that her voice sounds a bit muffled and echoey.

Obviously they had to record the performance in pieces but it doesn’t mean her live vocals weren’t recorded during each sequence.

The hand mic is basically for show, the dancing would look a bit awkward without it. It’s just for aesthetic purposes.

As for what she says to Ari, if there were audible words, they were likely edited out to keep the flow.
