AT*******:

Some old tweaker at Stewart's I saw hanging around my 300M was telling me to do this. He said he's used it professionally for 40 years of something. I told him I just go to Harbor Freight and buy the $7.99 Headlight Restore Kit every couple years. Thanks but no thanks. lol

Sh********:

WOW!!! IT MELTS PLASTIC, RUINS THE RUBBER GASKET AND TAKES THE CLEAR COAT OFF THE PAINT!!!!! AND PEOPLE SPRAY THIS CRAP ON THEIR SKIN????? LOL!!!! POST BY RICHIE

Sh****:
use the bug spray, then wax the headlights for protection

Ma**********:

I did this over a year ago. It still looks like the day i did it.  I found that once it's clean, you wash it with cold water. Then the results are pretty much permanent.

Mo*************:
Thank you Chris,
have you tried to place Rust-Oleum American Accents Ultra Clear Cover 2x spray as protective coat layer after?

Na*********:

Great job Buddy helping out people before we mess up our cars. Thanks!!

Im******:

The most disturbing thing is that people spray this on their skin.

Mi******:

Try using vinegar after you apply the bug spray. Get a sponge and crib the headlight after with vinegar and all the sticky residue disappears. Works great! And my headlights are going on 3 months now!! Been through the rain and etc washed many items and looks wonderful :))

Mo********:

Chris what if you use this step clean it off real good and then apply the clear coat non yellowing spray?

Mr*********:
Why do people try different chemicals and then F up their headlights? Just stop being cheap and get a decent kit from Walmart for like 8-10 bucks and you never have to worry bout the headlights getting foggy again!

Th**********************:

I've used bug spray before and I learned that using Soapy Wooder afterwards will stop it from melting the plastic.

Za***:
deet bug spray will remove with some elbow grease the spray on smoking in case you want to unsmoke your lights.

jo*******:
I got my headlights looking awesome. what I did is Polish them with car Polish, wipe them down, they spray paint clear coat. that's it. they looks new! i did this a week ago and they still look awesome!

F*:

if it does that then I will never use that on my skin lol

Jo*******:
what happens when you use a hose to rinse off the bug spray???

pr*******:

I used this method on my headlights a couple of months ago. Maybe I was lucky, but they have been clear ever since. This is the first thing that actually has lasted longer than a month.

Al**********:

I did it yesterday, bug spray first and then compound to polish. It looks good!

Mi*******:

Thanks very much....was about to do that....

Ri********:

If it does this to plastic, what the hell does this do to your skin!!???

Al*************:

Nice job mate, but clean your bloody fingernails.

ma********:
What if you use the bug spray (I know you don't recommend it, but bare with me) then after the 10 minutes you clean it off, then when all is said and done you spray it with the clear coat from your other video. Wouldn't that make it more permanent?

Love your videos!

Kn***************:

ive tried replacing my headlights
it worked great!

No***:
I tried turtle wax chrome and rust remover polish ,spread it on with and old rag and i used a simple hand held drill small with a buffer pad and worked it in after hazing wipe clean with a fresh rag, been 6 months and head lights are still clear

Mr**********:

I did this on my 2006 chevy impala I think it been a year or so it seemed to work good... they have not yellowed since but I will take good look at them tomorrow. I have thought about doing a plastidip clear bra on it too I was doing to do the head lights too... thanks fit the tip man

Te********:

I was going to try this! I'm glad i didn't. Thank you

La**********:

does it work with clear coat sprayed on top?

Ox***:

did mine from the 80's an put it on a soft towel and rinsed right after and had no issues an stayed clear...

Mi*************:

Great, informative video.

Be*:

But it's ok to spray that stuff on your skin... Just don't get it on your car :p

si***:

also beware of your phone/watch/glasses or anything plastic near DEET!!! It will ruin them.

tr**************:

Maybe with the bug spray the bugs will quit hitting them?

Mr******:

I didn't know that. Makes me think twice about spraying that stuff on my skin.

SU**************:

Thank you... for this information.

lo********:

Practical Chemistry in action
Thanx!

Ju********:
Im so glad I saw this. I watched a short video on Facebook a few days ago where the two guys in the video used bug spray and it worked amazing!  But now I am not going to try it, rather I will try what you said with the toothpaste! Thanks  @ChrisFix  for saving my headlights!

Ja************:
Here's an idea. How about taping up the headlight and cover the hood and bumper with a plastic bag (like you did in your video where you wet sand the headlight three times) and then use the bug spray, wash the headlamp and then apply wax let dry and buff. The combination of the two would be less time consuming with the least amount of effort and modest cost. What do you think?

Fr************:

Perfect time for me to see this...I just soaked my headlights in the same spray

Da*********:
I tried the toothpaste cleaning on my car today worked great thank you Chris.

At************:

I used bug spray, washed it off with soapy wooder and put rain x sealant on it. still clear after a month
