The farther back you can lay over the machine, the easier it will be w/o having to remove the cabinet. Beyond 45º worked well. The weight of the motor will assist in re-seating the motor to the transmission. I used a dab of dishwashing liquid on the plastic tabs of the coupler to make it easier to slide the motor onto the seated coupler in the transmission. A rubber mallet is a must. Not quite the "5-minute job" Chris billed it to be, but still HUGE cudos to him for providing this video and enabling me to avaoid a call to the Maytag [in this case, Kenmore] repair man! Thanks, Chris!

OMG, you're AMAZING!!!! My daughter and I fixed our washing machine using this video! Our problem was exactly the same as in the video (right down to the noise it made), including how the piece broke! Thank you for this video, it was awesome!!! My Dad and I just fixed our machine. Not sure where you are but here in Ontario Canada our part cost us $ 27.58 but hey better that than a $900 on a new machine!

Hey there Chris. Just completed the identical repair to my washing machine. Identical machine btw. Mine was a $20 fix though. Ended up going to an appliance sales/service store to buy the part. Maybe could have found it cheaper somewhere else but had to get it done pronto. Thanx for the very good graphics and explanatory steps. From tip up of machine to lowering back down to test, 27 minutes. That doesn't include my driving to pick up the part, LOL. That took 11 minutes.

You probably will never see this comment but seriously THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! We have a baby due in two weeks and haven’t been able to laundry in a week. We just moved into a duplex so we’d have more space but had to buy our own washer and dryer. Could only afford a $135 used set and just about broke down because the washer wasn’t spinning. My husband followed this video and now it’s working like it’s brand new, seriously... I don’t think anyone would understand how much this has helped us I MEAN IT WAS A $5 FIX. WOW! THANK YOU
