I believe the crossbow routine isn't a roulette, but a mechanical trick. Hear me out:
The crossbows will ALWAYS fire in the same sequence, no matter what leaver you pull, they only trigger the firing sequence; that is handled by a mechanical component hidden in the suspiciously-large metal cone. You can notice the jam in 14:47 how pulling the trigger only pulls the rope in the right section, not the ones attached to crossbows; hence, the mechanical component was jammed, not the crossbow.
It's A poorly made mechanical trick, he got the idea right but not the build.
