Chris, I followed your vid to do my own Transmission fluid this morning, thanks man! Saved me a ton of cash.

Bi*********:
Man wish prime and paint actually happened that fast, the magic of video editing!

Bu***:

Hay Chris can you do this process on a manual?

Le*****:

Excellent and clear step by step video and detailed explanation, Chris. The best video I've seen. Thanks. Please keep posting video like this.

Sa******:
I don't even own a car but I watch your videos lol, I don't even like cars but they are so interesting, keep up the good work :)

Great video as always, Chris. Extra props for the pro tip about the foil.

What kind of person would ever give a ChrisFix video a thumbs-down?

Ke****************:
Hi Chris,

Thanks so much for your videos. I was able to change my brakes, rotors and the break fluid this weekend. I have a newer model Toyota that doesn't have a transmission fluid dipstick. How would this process be done? Also can you comment on "life time fluid" for newer automatic transmissions?
Thanks

St********:
Do you have a video on how to flush the transmission?

Fr******:
A moment of silence for the people who dislike the video because they didn't follow the steps correctly and blew up their transmissions

Ch***************:

Bro. You make the best “How To” videos. I love the attention to detail. You don’t go fast. It’s very VERY helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

PC*****:

Chris, your videos are as valuable as gold. I am going to learn the trade at age of 60.

This vid gave me everything i needed to do my 2008 dodge dakota 4x2 v6 non lsd ex cab w/42RLE transmission a long overdue bit of TLC. I. Don't. Trust. Shops. Man. Have a good one though seriously my shift points are ungodly!

Just changed my transmission fluid and filter by following this video. At first, after buying all the things I needed I just sat there for an hour thinking of how much I was regretting this, and that I could have just paid someone to do it. Then I was under the car dreading the mess of transmission fluid but it wasn’t that bad. Pan wasn’t cooperating so I thought that all this for nothing, but eventually it gave out. Gasket was fused onto the pan, factory filter, cleaning was the part I hated the most but at the end there was a clean pan, new filter, all I had to do was cross the finish line and.... I did! Dammit, Chris, you didn’t have to make look so easy but thank you so much

Ho****:
Excellent. I want you to be my mechanic lol. I like how torough you are with it.

Ha********:

One of the best videos on this process!

Wa*********:

Pneumatic or hand pump fluid extractor, long tube down the dip stick, sit back and let the pump do all the work to remove that fluid before dropping the pan. Pretty common to see these Ford pans caved in because someone thought it looked like a good place to jack up the vehicle from.

ua*******:
Nothing new for me, but very interest to see your videos! Respect and good luck!!

MS*********:

The fluid didnt reach the dipstick because you forgot to take into account the fluid you spilled when you were measuring the old fluid

Pr******:

I would like to see how to flush/bleed a hydraulic clutch. Thanks!

you should have been a medical doctor in another life...too detailed, too careful..which is good

Chris, I've said it before I'm sure but you make the type of "How To" videos that someone who already knows exactly what they're doing will watch - You're that good. I was a dealership technician years ago and you're the type of person every company needs to teach (explain properly) and demonstrate the correct way to do things. Cheers, my friend!

Mo*********:

hey guys, crisp shifts here, and today.....

Ju*******:
ChrisFix Your such good help learned so much from watching your videos!!!

De*******:
I just did this to my ‘01 Olds Silhouette yesterday. Satisfying upon completion, but my filter was not that easy to do. No bolt to hold in or remove he filter. It just seats in using a metal ring. The old filter actually broke off removing it. I thought I broke my transmission lol. But I got some advice from an Oldsmobile master tech who said that it was fine as long as I could get the rest of the filter out, which I did. A job well for. Took 3.5 hours though. On the plus side, that knowledge will be great for later next time I change the filter, and if I ever encounter another vehicles come with the same type of filter installation.

Cr********:
Thanks Chris! Always making a seemingly difficult job into something anyone can do

Mo*********:

Hey Chris I have one request to make a video for manual transmission please.

Er*******:

A video on how to change gear oil? (stick-shift transmission)

ba*********:
This guy is amazing. So fluent and explains everything in details.

Ur*******:
You are so much more enthusiastic in your newer videos than your older ones from 2013/2014 lol

Jo*************:
CHRIS! I am told my 2004 Honda Civic Lx has the filter built within the transmission itself. In this case, do I just drain and fill? I love the videos man! Thank you.

ja**:

Hey Chris, Awesome video as always, just one suggestion? You reach a lot of people and people listen to you. If you could advise on your video that everyone out there to safely dispose of used oil and liquids that would be awesome. I think it's something like 10,000 litres of fresh water that is contaminated from just the 4 litre oil of one change being thrown in the trash or 'buried in the back yard' or dumped in a lake.. I'm in nz and unfortunately you can't usually take used oil back to the shop where you bought it but it's pretty cheap or free to take to the local dump. Cheers Chris, legend.

Th***********:

A few tips from someone else who's changed fluid/filter/etc on a lot of different vehicles.
Carefull on controlled drains, it's easy to bend the mating surface lip on the pans.
Then you'll have to get a new one.
Also, YOU NEED A CORDLESS IMPACT WRENCH FOR YOUR WORK!! Dewalt 20v 1/4" impact wrench with socked adapters is what I use ALL the time.
You'll thank me later.
Once the pan is off and filter on the ground, let it drip in your pan for an hour.
Take a break, or something. Let the drips stop.
Also, check the vehicle your working on if it has a drain plug in the torque converter. You can get a lot more fluid out if it does.
Have lot's of old t-shirts around to keep oil the wiped up.
Clean both mating surfaces up good, get them all dry.
Instad of useing adhesive to hold the gaskets to the pan, you can screw all trhe bolts into the gasket.
Just thread all the bolts up tight into the gasket, before you go under the vehicle.
I run all the bolts up with my impact, then go around with a ratchet.
Amsoil ATF is the best fluid out there, and works in pretty much all vehicles. It's only $6 a quart, and you can go 75K to 150K miles on a complete fluid change with that fluid.

Oh and if you are unfortunate enough to be working a dodge, adjust the bands when you do a fluid change.
Good luck with your tranny's everyone.

Ge********:
Great video. I just did this on my 2000 Ranger. Except I didn't paint my pan.

You don't need to use the silicone paste to keep the gasket in place. Every pan gasket (oil pan, transmission pan, etc) I've used in recent years has the bolt holes smaller than the bolts. So when you put in the bolts, the gasket will hold the bolts in place, and the bolts will hold the gasket in place.Al

Also... you failed to really convey just how much of a mess this will make. Jeez, I have transmission fluid everywhere now. LOL
