Ed***:
1:38 laba style, coaie

Hu***********:
I agree with you a lot, Haití needs help, but does that make it the Dominican republic responsibility ? Idk I feel conflicted on that.
Also weren't those soldiers black as well? I feel like there's more to this than you make it out be. 11:39
Not only that but in the beginning of the video you mentioned that the Dominican republic gets to set of first, but its not actually on the border it near the border on the Dominican side, so its not really there responsibility to let them go first.

Ja***************:

15:07 No, you're not a shameless person, Mam. You're a fighter, you're a strong person.

Ja*****:
It was so sad when the lady at 15:02 smiled. Like she's just accepting it as a fact of life. Reminds me of someone who's sick and dying, but they've just accepted it as something happening, so they smile like that when talking about it. No one should have to accept living in poverty like the Haitians. Let God reward them when they join him, let them be rewarded for their sufferings.

12:13 Riding D to B with another man, with a smile on your face???

Re***********:
Sending love to Haitians from the Philippines!

Cl****:
What if France repaid the 'debt' paid to them by reinvigorating the land?

BS*****:
Here's the dilemma if France decided to pay back the independence debt.....I wouldn't trust the Haitian government with that fund. The Haitian government is so corrupt from the greatest to the least of them. It sickens me.

Je*****************:

Colonization. They left the islands worse off. Sure they gave the language, culture, etc. But these "gifts" is not something that was asked for. These lands have their own before they were colonized.

Mr******:

When Filipinos thought Spanish were the worst colony and here's the French empire back then exploiting at a grueling level

Ze******:

The last lady, her smile nearly made my cry...

Sm************:

France owes Haiti reperations!!!

Em************:

I feel like this video was made by an outsider looking into the situation. I'm Haitian and I get along with Dominicans well. Not all Dominicans are racists. Not all Haitians are racists. Not everyone hates each other. There is more that meets the eye. Hell, one of my best friends is Dominican. There is a lot of history that explains the animosity (it exists). But, geez, it feels like Haitians are painted like poor victims when we have our issues and not everyone is extremely poor. DR is not insanely rich, but they did help out Haiti on several occasions. Plus, when one of the president's called out France for heavily taxing Haiti and crippling them, he disappeared. Also, worth mentioning how the U.S. loves to meddle on the island's business. Invading Haiti and ruling for two decades in some kind of military dictatorship? The various elections where U.S. has tried to be heavily implicated such as trying to have Wyclef Jean elected... ... ...

de***********:

"Independacnce Debt" what a joke

Ky********:
The only other important thing that was not mentioned is that in 1822, When the DR became independent, the president of Haiti marched in with 10,000 troops and unified the island, making Dominicans 2nd class citizens. The way the Haitian president paid the French off was by making the people of the DR pay for it. The Haitians occupied the DR until ousted 1844 and have been hated ever since. This in no way justifies the present treatment of Haitians but it does give context on why the Dominicans hate Haitians so much

Sh*********:

I never leave comments on any YouTube channels. But I was so touched by the lady with a big smile at the end of this video - 'I have no choice but to continue accepting mistreatment' .

Mu**********:
after watching this video i realise that the same thing happening in india

Mr*********:
it's a Good Plan and Good choice for escaping Dutch van der linde !

Ta********:

The colors in this video are just phenomenal.

Ya***********:
Before this video I just knew a country named Haiti existed
And now I can’t believe the racism and severe injustice these ppl endured since they first step foot on that island till this very day
As a person from the Middle East I can relate to being a post colony country, but their story is just brutal I truly cried watching this, what on earth have they ever done to be treated worse than live stock? Seriously the guard is hitting them with a stick!! But the ladies smile at the end was the most heartbreaking when she said that they became “shameless”

Ma****:
I’m Dominican myself and I know that Dominicans don’t like Haitians but I never thought it was this bad. I live in Europe so I don’t know much about the Dominican system, but this breaks my heart. I myself know a lot of Dominicans who have a dark skin color and are fully Dominican and to know that the women with children can be a Dominican is painful she speaks the language like a true Dominican. I just hope that some day some one steps up and fix this mess. I wish everyone the best in these hard times stay home stay safe stay healthy

VI*:

Jonny, there are some things that you omited in the video, like the invasion of Haiti in the Santo Domingo colony and the sub-sequend independence of the west side, known has the Dominican Republic, which lead not only to this division of the island, but for many factors that lead to what you saw:

-The Haitian government, during the island occupation, where so in debt that they extort not only the west side, even their own citizen where extorted has a way to collect enough resources to France.
- The west colony was seriously explored by the corrupted Haitian burocracy that in 27 of February of 1844, announced their independence, and several times, Haiti tried to retake the west side many times, something that the Dominican government and his citizens take with bad attitude.
- The main reason why the Dominicans are very racist with the Haitians is all thanks to Rafael Leónidas Trujillo during his 30 years of dictatorship, in which he launch an attack against Haitian families that were near the border, and reshape the dominican peoples pride to hate the haitians.

I know this has a nationalized citizen who lived many years and knows what is going on here. ( I’m not haitian, by the way)
Next time, make deep research to avoid inconclusions and inform well situations.
Thank you
