Top Comments : [Netflix] Marriage Story | Official Trailer | Netflix

Do***********:

The little details and little cute things is what makes this movie amazing. Like when she ties his shoes, when she says the tea is amazing, when he asks why Cassie had a cake and it made it even worse, etc. Little things are what makes it so realistic and amazing. I don't agree with everyone saying "I don't wanna get married anymore", and this is not the message either. It just says that you shouldn't marry someone who is not giving the same to the relationship as you do and you should always communicate your needs clearly. The world would be a better place and marriages wouldn't end up that way. But as we can see in the movie, after the worst times we can still be human beings with the other person and we can still love each other. Amazing movie.

Me**********:

Adam Driver has to be the most underrated actor of our time. Every time I see him in something I'm never disappointed. So much praise but little recognition.

Ca***:
“You shouldn’t be upset that I slept with her, you should be upset that I had a laugh with her!’
That part ironically was so reflective of many relationships today. It’s like...it wasn’t the sex he wanted from his wife, but that sitting down together, having a laugh, that closeness. THAT is what he was yearning for but unfortunately he found it (and a bed) with another woman.

Te**********:
The scene where they close the door to the house together and the way they look at each other before it closes. I have never scene a more powerful and symbolic scene

Mi***************:

This looks like something that'll break your heart

Am************:

Scarlett Johansson went from Black Window to Karen

Fe*********:
Scarlett Johansson was just brilliant in this film

Ho********:

The love still there between the two it was just hard for them to compromise, something I learned from an experience. Great movie

ch***************:

I thought I'd give it a chance just to see. Saddest mistake of my life but truly makes me cherish the present more than anything!
Adam Driver just keeps getting better!

em****************:
I NEED to know the rest of Bert’s joke

Ha*************:

The only thing that disappointed me that they didn't used "Maybe I'm amazed" in the movie.

Sa********:

How the hell did Laura Dern get an Oscar and not the leads? I didn’t think her acting was nearly even as good and authentically raw as them!

Co********:
Best screenplay and acting performances of the year, Johansson is incredible, at her career best, and will likely be the front-runner for the Best Actress Oscar. Adam Driver is also mesmerizing and could win Best Actor. Laura Dern, Alan Alda and Ray Liotta are all extremely effective in their respective supporting roles, particularly Dern. Complete masterpiece of a movie that will be the key film this awards season. An unforgettable experience. 10/10

Ha*********:
"She's amazing at opening jars due to her strong arms"
Duh she's Black Widow

Be******:
Everyone is talking about the argument scene Nobody is Talking about the scene where when the husband says that he got a job at UCLA she realized None of this is what she wanted

fi*****:
People arguing "he was right" "she was right" missed the whole point of the movie (or didn't watch it in full at all and just saw some clips on youtube)

Mu***********:
Why it's looks like a 2002 movie

M*:
spoiler alert
I honestly felt like she was being the selfish one though it was painted out he was selfish one throughout the movie, I was rooting for them both and was totally on her side in the very beginning, and then as the movie went on, I really did believe she was happy until she one day realised she was not, and then their marriage deteriorated, and ofcourse he made the fatal error of having an affair. I was on both of their sides, hers initially, but some how I ended up on his side because I felt that it was him that had to adjust and relocate and give up his career for her dream, which for a large part of their marriage she didn't even realise she had. It's like he became the villian for not realising her dreams even though she never clearly knew them or how to express them herself. It was an amazing, insightful and very realistic movie.
Maybe the moral of the story is, don't get married until you feel fufilled, clearly he was fufilled and she wasn't and in looking for fufilment it led to the breakdown of their marriage.

Al**********:
I saw this yesterday. I think the hardest part is throughout the whole film, you're rooting for both of them.

Da**************:
I love this movie. I love when people make movies with original ideas

Ki*******:
I could watch Adam Driver do nothing but read a dictionary and still be mesmerized.

ja******:

The great Otis Redding`s masterpiece, "I`ve been loving you too long."

Co***********:
All cheaters should be divorced but she also needs to speak up more.

OR*******:

Shout out to all my MGTOW brothers. You know what's up!

Su***********:

Honestly one of the best movies I've seen in a while. The acting was superb I forgot I was watching a movie. It was real!!!! This was real life and showed you the reality of divorce.

The other underlying theme was narcissism. And during the film I went back and forth between who I thought was the narcissist. The mom who expected everyone to build their lives around her career. Or the father who expected everyone to build their lives around HIS career. Or the lawyers who were so obsessed with winning and having the upper hand, when really the main focus should have been about the child. Which brings us to the next question: Are you a bad parent for wanting something for yourself even if it disrupts your child's life?

Is there such thing as right or wrong? Or should everyone be entitled to their own happiness even if it means you're selfish...

Things to think about lol.

Cr**********:

Honestly, I hate that this is a divorce story.

Fe*********:

Why is no one talking about the scene where Nicole says she couldn't cry in the stage, then 1 second later, after the ''good night, Charlie'' she breaks down? I started cry right there

ad********:
it’s like they just called this “marriage story” as a working title and it just stuck.

honestly though this looks amazing

Ch**********:

Netflix and A21 seem to be the only studios that are bringing out original films and not reboots and sequels

Jo*******:

who else cried when Charlie read Nicole's letter to their kid while fighting back tears

Ma*******:

Respect to the writer this scenario also the actor and actress as the main character. Such a great movie

Lo***********:

One of the most touching movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life

Sa******:

This movie made me feel like I should break up with my girl while simultaneously making me feel a deeper connection with her and want to make it work

av*****:

May divorce be with you

Ak************:
"You used me so you could get out of LA, and then you blamed me for it!" screams Charlie at Nicole; this statement underscoring the danger of deriving life's essence from another, the unfairness of placing such burden on these ones, all the more so when our expectations aren't met or we evolve and our needs change.

In another scene, as Nicole gave a summary of her marriage to Nora, her lawyer, she said: "that's when I realised he truly didn't see me. He didn't see me as something separate from himself," continuing a vein of thought that shows how a relationship once established on a precedence of dependence and an uneven balance of power, becomes almost impossible to correct. They become set in their ways, especially the dominant spouse, and unable to comprehend a reason for change, become resentful of it. One feels gaslighted, the other, railroaded.

Scarlett Johansson was captivating in the movie as her emotional spectrum from unhappy woman to stricken lover to fledgling independent woman, whose silent cries and lone tears - sometimes in the space of a scene - helps illuminate the complex nature of divorce; it isn't necessarily as simple as not loving your spouse anymore or because you cannot forgive and move past their errors, that sometimes it's because they are unwilling or incapable of making changes into being the persons that we now need.

It was also quite an education into the viciousness and mercantile nature of divorce in contemporary America, where truth is contrived, law is exploited, and winning depends on how much you are willing to pay to recruit your own a***hole.

bi*****:

One of the things no one has talked about is how this and other divorces spiral in such acrimony that you have to pay lawyers $900/hr to get you what you want; be it a house, bank account or child. If you can't sit down with the person you married and find compromise, then you made the wrong choice in the person you married or the person you married made the wrong choice when they said "yes" to you. It speaks to how cavalier people are towards the contract signed when you enter a marriage. It's for life, better or worse - that's the solemn oath one takes. You better be DAMN sure this is the right person for you or you're setting yourself up for this kind of misery and expense.

Ni*********:
Someone to hold you too close, someone to hurt you too deep
Someone to sit in your chair, to ruin your sleep.
Someone to need you too much, Someone to know you too well
Someone to pull you up short, To put you through hell

Being Alive. Being Alive. Being Alive.

Somebody to hold me too close, somebody to hurt me too deep
Somebody to sit in my chair and ruin my sleep and make me aware.
of being alive, being alive

Somebody need me too much, somebody know me too well
Somebody to pull me up short, and put me through hell and give me support for being alive,
make me alive, make me alive, make me confused, mock me with praise, let me be used, vary my days.
But alone, is alone, not alive.
Somebody crowd me with love, somebody force me to care
Somebody make me come through, I will always be there, As frightened as you, to help us survive .

Being alive, Being alive, Being alive
