It's staggering how much camera footage they have of all the goings on. It's like every moment was filmed. And this back in the early 80s. Hardly anyone had a videocamera

Another addicting as hell, masterfully made and enthralling Netflix documentary series. An instant classic.

One of my biggest takeaways from the show is how incredibly competent Sheela seemed to be at organizing and getting things done. Unless there was alot they didn't show of leadership, in 4 years she blew that thing up bigtime, while Osho was a recluse. A town, medical lab ,police force, self-sustaining (likely by people turning over all their possessions ala Scientology), but still. She seems like a very competent women, but too arrogant and a ignorant of how to work with competing interests. A leader like her will build like mad, but rub others the wrong way, when they prick her, she will prick back twice, and the spiral of violence will continue to one group is defeated. She's ignorant in that way, but definitely smart in others. A savvy leader would have worked with the locals, understood what tehy wanted, helped to give what they wanted and make friends of them, then the county, then the state. They cuold have built somethign much larger, but their ego got in the way. Townspeople could hear couples having sex day and night, see them out in the open. That's not how you manage growth. You have places and ways to express somethings. You don't swamp a town people people all in 'uniforms', that creates fear, worry. Everyone has seen deadly cults come and go. You say you are different? ACT different. Prove you are different. Engage the world you live in, and learn how to accommodate your culture with others, and respect each other. Yes they had a handful of 40 bigots around, or maybe just fearful ignorant people, but trying to screw them was not 'smart' leadership. They would have been easy to win over with more nuanced leadership.

To me, this is the best trailer ever made. I am yet to watch the documentary, though. But very interested now.

That guys laugh at the end....dude evil. Watch this documentary. Netflix continues to outdo the Hollywood establishment. A great documentary should NEVER tell you how to feel or be edited in such a way as to skew the truth. It should just let the events unfold and leave you to ponder your own judgements.

What a life to live! Crazy! Sheela was an interesting person.

The positives an amazing irrigation plan, which helped bring wildlife back into the land as well as fostered a self sustaining enviroment. The organic farm was cool and their own private small airstrip. This was all created by some young, motivated and apparently educated people . The mindful practice is positive minus the odd sexual orgy stuff. Mistakes 1# Choosing Sheela for PR who proved to be inappropriate, angry and criminal minded person . Typically you send your brightest and the best to be the public relations person. 2# Is why did Osho want media attention at all ? Media attention is the last thing they needed. Why 20 Rolls Royces ? 20 Ford Trucks is what they needed! If they just created a large private gated community with a big community center for their mindfulness practice and had been respectful neighbors to the people living in economically depressed Antelope, Oregon it could of been mutually beneficial for all involved. Instead it turned into a very negative scene and media circus with Sheela at the helm. It was too bad, because they had zero crime on the site, except the ones perpetuated by Sheela and her two friends. I think diabolical Sheela wasn't involved and no media attention was given to it, they could of become of the greatest examples of a self-sustaining community with zero crime society .

What I understand from all of this is that he understood that all the wealthy and intelligent people had every happiness of world but still they hadn't won the battle against death or the limitations of their minds(Eg. Everyone would like to get the brain of Einstein or even better a supercomputer mind) . So he tapped in those desires of people . But we all know that conquering death and brain is still a long way to go. Maybe near 2050 .

Also I think he was next going to tap in these intelligent people's genes .He would have done breeding of these people to make superintelligent human beings which would further make more intelligent humans by further interbreeding.

Basically it would be a planned community.

But I think the downside would be that this commune would then abolish all the less intelligent people and people were afraid of this so they started protesting and hence this commune came to an end.

Anyone else think it's very interesting that the documentary makers never even bothered to show any of Osho's actual philosophy, in Wild Wild Country, when there are endless recorded video lectures of his to choose from? Why intentionally leave out what the man stood for, and what the followers were there listening to? Why did they choose to completely OMIT all of his ideas from this documentary? And why did most people not even notice this fact that I am pointing out? Anyone who reads this , I encourage you to check out what the man was actually SAYING.
