Alexander Skarsgård is great in this movie. I love how he brings his vampire creepy acting into this movie. I also love the visual clues they give that most people won't notice. It definitely strings you along and takes a mature mind to stay in the mood for the ending. Fantastic movie!

Let me save you 2 hours and 5 minutes of your life that you will never get back. This movie had a cool creepy vibe at first... and then it took a turn into outer limits and beyond and never comes back. Keep reading for spoiler.. trust me.. you will thank me. Crazy chick kills son, Crazier husband gets home and kills just about everyone he meets.. for no apparent reason, every cop cannot hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away. And as for the ending? There isnt any.... i sat for 2 hours waiting for a reason... jokes on me. To the director of this movie.. you got me.. and F@CK you!!!!

The film is about a brother and sister in an incestuous relationship that bore a son. This relationship has caused the locals of the town to excommunicate the siblings. The father is away at war and the mothers already fragile mind snaps while he is away and she kills their son. Dad comes home to find out their son is dead and his sister/wife has ran off. He then unleashes his rage on the towns people trying to find her and due to the fact because his relationship with his sister the locals have mistreated them all their lives. Hence why he's killing everyone he comes across. There's the spoon. Chew. Swallow. Whiners. Go read the book now

Sooo, "Hold The Dark" on Netflix... beautifully shot, great sound design, well acted... and at the credits roll I have no idea what it was about... what is it with movies these days, ala "Roma", where story and narrative structure are waved off as unnecessary... like "Roma", each scene in "Hold The Dark" seemed unattached to the next, and devoid of coherence as a whole... the trailer for "Hold The Dark" was amazing, well edited, drew me in... sadly the story it alluded to was no where to be found... it's not a bad movie, just not a complete movie... maybe worth your time on a rainy afternoon if you want pretty things to stare at, but if you are into endings, summation and resolution you'll have to look elsewhere...
