This time, I will review the popular YouTube videos.

These days, even if it's good to watch on YouTube, sometimes people skip it or don't watch it if it's too long.

When you watch Youtube, do you scroll and read the comments first?

ko*****:

poor rat ;c they're making them paralysed for science

Go*********:
Why don't you make a tiny wheel chair for the rats

Ju************:

My mind was blown when I read in one comment in FB, that convicted criminals should be used for testing rather than animals. That's how vegans are concerned about ethics.

Da*******:

im french, and hearing this guys talking is hilarious xD xD

Ca*****************************:
Call peta?

Ki******:
"YEAH!!! LET'S BREAK IT'S BACK FOR RESEARCH AND IN RETURN, FEED IT CHOCOLATE!!"

Sp*******************:
Amazing, it reminds me of those people who have been told they would never walk again and yet after months and/or years of trying they walk again.

Ke****:

I think the rat needs to be paid more than just chocolate and yoghurt.

To*********:
Why do people think that the rats are getting hurt? This is exactly like physical therapy, and the chocolate motivation is parallel to the motivation of someone who really wants to walk again

He****:
RATS ARE EVOLVING, THEY ARE GONNA START WALKING ON 2 FEET.WHAT'S NEXT????

Ja******:
Seeing the paralyzed rat walk... It fills you with DETERMINATION.

Dr************:

Whats really sad is that they are going to euthanize the rat in the end to see what going on with its brain. :'(

n*:
Awe it looks so cute it when it wants to walk. She/he like sticks it's arms out and is like "I'm trying! Come on legs!!! Come on! wiggles arms frantically"

Hk*****:
"Animal cruelty!" - Disgruntled viewer posts shortly after enjoying the luxuries of life from shampoo to Advil brought to us in part by extensive animal testing.

Ke*****:
This makes me feel sad for the rat :(

Ke***:
They speak French in Switzerland?

Ch***********:
It's so sad that they have to hurt the rat for this study :( But I guess that's the cost of knowledge that might help hundreds other. Glad they treat her with such affection

Pa****:

it's only cruel if they broke their spines on purpose just for these experiments, i hope to god they didn't.

Ja************:
Seeing this rat in such a position is sad but think of the bright side, it will soon walk again and might have cured paralysis.

Mi**********:
There was a occurrence where a guy got in a car crash and got paralyzed and could only blink. His helper monkey always helped by putting what he needs always a little bit out of reach. He slowly regained his upper halve and only had halve his body paralyzed!

Se******:

The rat didn't look like it was in pain, but it is a little sad they cut its spine to begin with. I'm not sure what kind of life it would have lead if it hadn't become a lab rat, I just hope they treat it well outside of testing.

go***:

So many people feeling sorry for the rat, but I assure you they treat her with much love and care considering how comfortable she is (I own two ratties!). If she feared for her life she'd be squirming constantly but that is not the case. Experiments like this need to continue for the benefit of the human race, as long as it's humane experiments such as this.

Br************:

This made me cry Exposing their brain like that and knowing that they feel pain like we do made me very sad

Br**************:
If rats ever became sentient, we're so screwed. We literally treat them like freaking objects just because they can reproduce insanely fast.

Co*******:

Even though I'm a great animal lover and don't like seeing any animals in pain, I understand that it's all for improving lives of people (and animals!!) around the world. The rats are well cared for so it's not cruelty.

Jo**********:

this video should be called 'Swiss chocolate motivates paralyzed rat to walk again, and with an accent'

K*:

while a part of me is distressed about seeing (and knowing) the awful experiments performed on animals, It is clear that these little ratties have done and continue to do tremendous amount of good for mankind. I know there are tones of people out there that share such a compassionate outlook in this with me. Its also lovely to see that scientist who is very loving towards the rat. We aren't all monsters. <3

n0*******:
I'm a proud owner of my own mischief. I have two 6ft cages that house 6 girls in the one on the left and 8 boys in the one on the right. (7 of my rats are rescue) Rats are fantastic pets, just absolutely clever and amazing.

All 14 of my rats know their names and will come when called after free range time.

I'm here because of one my girls, Chell, is paralysed from just below her tail and her back legs don't work anymore.

Obviously I was looking for help in helping her rehabilitate as much as she can but I'll avoid the head probes lol.

Anyway, I'm not daft. You won't see me decry the tests on rats and other animals, just wanted to recommend rats as pets.

Ja***********:
I broke my sacrum in 5 pieces in a skydiving accident and for a time I could not move my legs. I went through rehabilitation and I had to will my legs to move like you wouldn’t believe. Every ounce of concentration and will had to be geared towards moving my right leg and inch forward. Little by little I was able to walk again and now I can walk and run. Was my spinal cord requiring or just re-myelinizing? Is it in any way similar to your experiment? I was super motivated to walk again and I had a very powerful will because I had been going to the gym every day for years.

br***********:

Years ago, I suffered a spinal cord injury.  I was crushed under 3000 pounds of stone and among my injuries were 18 bone fractures including my L-2 vertebra.  The spinal cord injury was incomplete, meaning it was not severed completely, but crushed.  I was initially paralyzed from the waist down, but through reconstructive surgery and LOTS of physical therapy, I am now able to walk again.  I still suffer many residual effects from the spinal cord injury which will only be corrected through some new technology.  This video is GREAT news for people like me.

I have also learned that despite the fact that spinal cord neurons do not regenerate by themselves (that cannot be regrown directionally), scientists have been able to make spinal cord neurons grow across a "bridge" made from a silicon chip.  This news, along with the testing being done in this video, gives great hope to people like me. Thank you for posting this video!  I sincerely hope that folks like these keep up the good work!!!
