It's not only the sun. Any bright light can cause this, given it is bright enough to cause it.

I once got off of a plane in Costa Rica and the cabin was super dark and it was a bright day, and I sneezed 14 times in a row...

If you feel like you are about to sneeze and you want to sneeze, but you feel like it's not enough irritation for you to sneeze, just look at any bright light source. It really helps to trigger sneezing.
I am NOT a sun sneezer, but this trick helps me every time. I assume that when you're ready to sneeze, sun (or other light) can help to sneeze anyone, regardless of the gene. But sun sneezers, I assume, are those who will, due to the gene, sneeze even if they weren't going to sneeze.

If you're about to sneeze and you need to prevent that (e.g. at an important meeting, or while driving in city traffic), try pushing your nose bridge or your upper lip with a finger. Doesn't work perfectly and you may still sneeze, but these tricks have helped me quite a few times. Closing your eyes to prevent the nerve irritation is a thing to try. But don't close your eyes when driving - better just sneeze quickly and look at the road again.

I can't imagine not having this power... My whole life the sun and other bright light sources have been a relief aid when I can feel a sneeze but it doesn't fully manifest itself. I literally got a flashlight on my phone that I can quick turn on by rapid pressing the power button 3x for when I'm inside somewhere and feel a sneeze coming. Grab that, 3x press and BAM! I've got a really bright light I can use to sneeze. My only caveat is I can't do it with an audience... my anxiety takes over from having people stare at me and it quells the urge to sneeze lol.
