Se**********:
One thing that many people need to understand:
If the Cuban government did not wish for this distribution system to exist, it would not be as developed as it is today. Simple fact.

The truth of the matter is that the weekly package is perused by lower government officials as well as the citizenry. Whether the higher officials are capable of simply viewing the internet and television without barriers is up for debate, but it is likely that they too depend on the package for many things.

After all, the meticulous collection and dissemination of information is central to Cuba, it's almost a hidden national pride and the thing that has kept Cuba afloat since, in essence, being closed off to the world.

Think of the most common documents that are referred back to here in the United States - birth certificates, wedding certificates, divorces, bills of health and so on; now imagine them packed with double the information, extending back years upon years, with loops and loops of supplemental information.

Lives and families are recorded meticulously and rendered in multiple copies when necessary. The collection and dissemination of information is ingrained. Attacking any form of that pride would trigger an outcry that would, frankly, be suicidal for the government. So, why bother having an open witch-hunt for the weekly package? It's more beneficial intact than dismantled.

Ma******:
Hope Dany didn't get in trouble after this was made.

In************:

This series made me really respect Cubans. Seems like they're all straight hustlers. Working a 2nd underground job in order to live, have their own local underground internet they built themselves, always finding a way to work around the system. Necessity is the mother of invention.

La**:

I heard they also distribute foreign movies & entertainment in USB drives in North Korea. For real. But I wonder if they have a network as sophisticated as this.

Ku*:

There was a time when this used to happen in the town where I'm from. They still sell pirated games, movies, tv series, etc.
But since past few years their business went downhill due to fast & cheap internet connection called JIO.
I myself was a customer but now stopped going there because I got Jio broadband, a cheap & fast internet connection.
Around 60-80 Mbps speed on average, 400 GB monthly for only around $14 usd.
Most people have either fast mobile internet or broadband these days, so their business went downhill.
